Supported Programme is our new and improved model of support for Promoters, which helps them to programme excellent and experimental new work in venues across the Highlands & Islands.

We strive for sustainable outcomes in everything we do, and it is our desire that this new model of support will allow the Network to respond to gaps in genre and geography, to empower Promoters to reach out to new audiences by making their programmes more accessible, yet at the same time, allowing Promoters to retain their independence as programmers.

The original Supported Touring model, allowed us to programme six successful seasons of work, which included 37 different tours, with an average of 4 performances, between 2013 & 2015. The new and improved model has been designed in response to feedback from Promoters, Performers and Audiences collected during this time.

Promoters

If you are a Promoter within The Touring Network, and agree with any of the following statements, Supported Programme might be for you:

  • I’m just starting out as a Promoter and I’m wary of taking risks on certain shows.
  • I’ve been a Promoter for a while, but just programme the same safe genres all the time.
  • We struggle to get new audience members to come to our events.
  • Our audience isn’t very diverse, but we’d like to do something about that.
  • I’ve seen a show I’d really like to programme, which I think would be really great for other venues in the Touring Network too, but the fee is too high.
  • Our venue is really remote, and we find it difficult to encourage Performers to tour to us.

NEXT STEPS for Promoters

Once we launch the new version of Tourbook, we will be able to share our first Supported Programme collection with you.

In the meantime, if you have provisionally booked a show with a Performer who has a tour of at least 4 dates with Touring Network venues, and you think it’s eligible for Supported Programme, we are now accepting applications. Click here to apply.

Performers

If you are a Performer interested in touring to Touring Network venues, and agree with at least 4 of the following statements, we might be able to support Touring Network Promoters to programme your show:

  • We are looking to tour at least 3 months from now.
  • Our show has audience development potential.
  • Our show tackles equalities, diversity & inclusion issues.
  • We are a dance / physical theatre company.
  • Our music can be classed as New Music.
  • Our work is site-responsive.
  • We can offer a reduced fee for a run of at least 4 dates.
