Adam Holmes & the Embers

MAKING a swift return to the islands after a hugely popular stint at the 2014 Shetland Folk Festival, Adam Holmes and his band The Embers will play two special shows at Mareel and Sandwick’s Carnegie Hall in mid December.

The Edinburgh 23 year old has wooed audiences in Scotland and beyond with the timeless timber of his vocals. His debut album ‘Heirs and Graces’ contains crafted ballads and haunting melodies recalling John Martyn’s strum and sting, laced with a slice of Paolo Nutini soul and touches of traditional folk and Americana.

Another up-and-coming name on the Scottish scene will also appear on the bill for the two pre-Christmas shows.

Ella the Bird, aka Siobhan Wilson, has generated considerable buzz already with her honey-sweet, bird-like vocals. Her first visit to Shetland will come hot on the heels of a November tour around Europe supporting Del Amitri singer Justin Currie.
