Amy Duncan
4 September, 2014 @ 8:00 pm
£15With her melodious acoustic sound and emotional songwriting, infused with remarkable honesty, Amy Duncan has established herself as one of the brightest musical talents in Scotland. After a start to the year which has seen her perform as far afield as Canada and begin work on a new album, she is embarking on a Scottish tour this summer, accompanied by string trio, harp, and bass, with support from Creative Scotland.
The summer dates will include three performances at the Edinburgh Fringe as part of this year’s Made in Scotland Showcase, which presents some of the country’s most impressive musical and performance talent on the international stage. Amy will be performing a new body of songs called ‘Undercurrents’ at Summerhall with string trio, harp, bass, and percussion. After the performances ‘Undercurrents’ will be recorded and released as Amy’s fifth album.
“When Amy Duncan sings there’s a feeling that her emotionally charged songs are a reflection of a life-lived. There’s a level of experience that goes beyond imagining. It’s the old maxim ‘You had to be there’ and with these songs you just know that the singer has walked the roads she sings about. This is evident in her latest lovingly fashioned and superbly produced album ‘Cycles of Life’” Dan Holland, Folk Words
“Quietly compelling” Simon Holland
