The Internet Comedies
14 November, 2015 @ 8:00 pm
This is a bang up to date hilarious double bill of ‘THE QUEEN OF LUCKY PEOPLE’ and ‘ON’, both comedies written and directed by Iain Heggie.
‘QUEEN OF LUCKY PEOPLE’ is the story of recently retired Patrice French who in pursuit of ‘staying abreast with the latest advances’ is an avid fan of social networking. She builds up an extensive fan base with her witty posts. Her lifelong friend Susan is dead against this development in Patrice’s life, believing that friendship is best conducted face to face. But then Susan goes into hospital and finds time hanging on her hands and everything changes. Queen Of Lucky People is a hilarious and affecting tale about the use and abuse of the internet and a dog called Hank. The play has already had sell out ‘A Play, A Pie and A Pint’ runs at the Traverse and Oran Mor.
‘a mini masterpiece’ (The Scotsman) ‘a delicious black comedy’ (Evening Times)
‘wry and pin-sharp’ (Edinburgh Guide)
Brand new play ‘ON’ is a darkly funny comedy about a reunion between long lost Uncle Larry and his niece Lesley, newly acquainted at a family funeral. Uncle Larry is homeless and broke and when he blames her deceased parents for his messed up life Lesley feels responsible and sets out to put the past to rights and sort out Uncle Larry. But Uncle Larry has a mission of his own. Lesley is a compulsive checker of email, and phone, and social network sites. She is always ‘on’ and Uncle Larry wants to get her ‘off.’
