The Wiyos

12 November, 2014 @ 8:00 pm

£12

Now back to their acoustic roots and format – and what a show they put on as they keep their army of faithful fans happy as they savour the pure essence that got them fully hooked in the first place.

The Wiyos have played Celtic Connections and Shetland Folk Festival and appeared at The Barbican Theatre in London with Seasick Steve for an American roots music show that the BBC televised from the venue. Bob Dylan invited them to open the show when he went on a tour of US baseball stadiums.

Reviewers on both sides of the Atlantic have written great things about them. The Los Angeles Times said they were: “A pure joy,” while Bob Harris told listeners to his BBC Radio 2 show: “This is great music”. Seasick Steve’s a fan and warns everyone who has not seen the band perform ‘live’: “You’re in for a surprise!”

“Not to be missed” Keith Bruce, Arts Editor, The Herald (Scotland)

“A once-in-a-lifetime experience”
“They may well be the best band we’ve ever had – superhuman”
Whippoorwill, Music Events, Sheffield
“A blast from start to finish” Maverick magazine
