How would you like to spend a day networking with theatre companies and performers who have work available for touring over the next 6-12 months?
Each year in March, the Federation of Scottish Theatre hosts Market Day – a day of networking and promotional opportunities, including open exchange and scheduled face-to-face sessions, for performing companies, promoters and venues.
In the past we have supported Peter Vallance, Universal Hall and Duncan McInnes, SEALL in their attendance to the event. Duncan speaks of his experience here:
“I recommend a visit to the FST Emporium Market Day. FST is a focused organisation which provides good information and networking for its Members and attendees. Moreover we need more theatre touring into the Highlands and Islands! At an FST Event you have the chance to talk to the companies themselves and to other promoters. The day takes place at the Beacon Arts Centre, Greenock on Thu 14 Mar 2019 – see below for more information about what to expect:
What happens on the day:
After registration and coffee, Market Day begins with an hour-long open exchange session where attendees get a chance to explain who they are and what they do. Following this, the first block of prescheduled individual one-to-one meetings takes place. There is then a break in the middle of the day for lunch, which is followed by a panel discussion. The remaining prescheduled meetings take place in the afternoon and the day finishes with a drinks reception.
Face-to-face sessions:
These are a key element of Market Day. At the end of January, each attendee is sent a list of delegates and invited to choose the people they would like to meet during face-to-face sessions, which can be up to 7 meetings per person, depending on availability. On the day, every attendee will also receive a delegate pack with information on all the available productions and venues and relevant contact details
