Following the huge success of our first ever micro-network, we’re now open for round two!
Would you like to see more sustainable, well-routed tours? Could you use additional funding to help book new performances? Would you enjoy collaborating with other rural promoters/venues and meeting like-minded people?
The aim of our new Supported Programme is to form micro-networks, across the Highlands & Islands, to book several acts that tour in a well-routed, considered way. Funding will be offered to help pay performers fair fees and additional rural touring costs, as well as community engagement to help build audiences. Promoters’ time spent in meetings (approx eight) will also be paid for if needed.
There will be a mixed approach to programming to suit the promoters involved. Partly led by you, and partly led by our Programming Policy. The tours will take place before March 2026.
This new model proved successful last year, producing a micro-network that continues to work together well after our involvement. Ardross Village Hall, Cromarty Arts, Applecross Community Hall, Eden Court, Nairn Community Centre and Resolis Arts proved that working together can be a positive thing for all involved, booking some great acts across music, theatre and dance.
We wish to support the development of a member-led micro-network made up of around just four promoters/venues. To help us find this perfect match of promoters, can you please complete the questionnaire here by 14 October. This will help us understand your programme preferences, experience levels, geographic position and how our funds can best support you.
As always if you have any questions please get in touch. We’re excited to get your submissions and explore where the network might be. You can find out more about micro-network and how past participants (performers and promoters) found the experience in a short film here.
“The programme has enabled us to host a live theatre performance in our rural community, which is an extremely rare event due to our geographical remoteness. The whole experience has been exceptional and helped our small venue and the volunteers who run it to build our skills and confidence in hosting a wider range of performances, learning alongside peer venues, and to form new friendships.”
