Network Meet-Ups
Catch up and share experiences with other people involved or interested in rural touring. Our team will be on hand to answer any questions. Our network meet-ups are FREE for members (Memberships starts from £20 per year). On occasion, they may be a more focused affair; a lab for up-skilling our members or a workshop on a particular theme. If you’re not a member yet and interested in coming along, get in touch.
Each month the Network Meet-Up will follow a rough agenda as follows.
Welcome and Member Catch up – This is your opportunity to share any relevant recent news or put out any calls outs to fellow members.
Member Lab – An Opportunity for you to reach out to the team for help finding something, someone or somewhere to assist your practice / work. We will signpost / connect / guide where we can!
Monthly Focus – We will guide a chat around a specific topic each month. Check our social media / webpage for what this month’s topic is!

We aim to make our events as accessible as possible and offer grants up to £50 to help with travel costs, caring responsibilities, loss of income or disability requirements. Email office@thetouringnetwork.com to check eligibility.

Mini Meet-Up (hosted by our members)
Wed 19 March, Resolis Hall, 12-2pm
We’re handing over the reins to our Highland micro-network to host this meet-up for Highland promoters and volunteers. The group will share how they work together, current projects and plans for the future. A warm, welcoming space to meet like-minded people, chat about rural touring opportunities and connect some dots, Lunch is on us.
The Highland micro-network is made up of Resolis Arts, Eden Court, Nairn Community Centre, Cromarty Arts and Ardross Village Hall. If you’re a promoter/volunteer and would like to attend please email fee@thetouringnetwork and your details will be passed on to the group.
Disability Equality Training with Birds of Paradise
Thu 27 March, 10am-12pm, online (FREE for members)
Join Birds of Paradise theatre company for comprehensive disabled-led training, tailored for our network.
We’ll be looking at what actively disables people, and at disability, from a cultural context. You’ll be provided with the skills and confidence to remove barriers for disabled people, which in turn will lead to a more accessible and inclusive environment in whatever you do. You’ll leave feeling more comfortable and confident in your interactions with disabled people. The knowledge, skills and tools you gain during the session will apply across all areas of your work and motivate you to make a positive change.
This is different from disability awareness training which focuses on impairments and impairment specific advice. DET gives practical advice but also gives a broader perspective & knowledge. BOP knows that disabled people continue to experience significant barriers in the arts and elsewhere. This session is a relaxed way to skill up and ensure you are not perpetuating ableist behaviours or practices.
“The training overall was really good. Really well delivered, presenters in particular were very engaging. Session was delivered with good humour and individuals expertise and knowledge really came across.”
