SERVICE USED: TRAVEL BURSARIES
BY: ARGYLL ARTS COLLECTIVE, JONI
FOR: TRAVELLING FROM LOCHGOILHEAD TO INVERNESS TO ATTEND BRAW REVEALED AT EDEN COURT
“My name is Joni Brown and I am the director of the Argyll Arts Collective, we are based in Lochgoilhead and we promote shows in and around the area of Cowal. We usually hire the local village halls as the venue. We have been members of The Touring Network for around three years, we first heard about the travel bursary during The Gathering.
I have applied for the travel bursary at various times over the last three years. The last time was to take part in the Braw Symposium in September 2019, which was held at the Eden Court Theatre in Inverness. The bursary enabled me to participate in the Symposium, as one of the host communities that took part in the two-year project between artists and rural communities, it was essential to be there!
Applying for the Travel bursary is a really easy process, after attending an event the Touring Network send you an online form that is simple to fill in. It asks for millage plus other expenses such as accommodation.
It is a very useful service that the Touring Network provide for their members because it gives a volunteer promoter some re-assurance that they will not personally be out of pocket when attending any events.
ABOUT TRAVEL BURSARIES: Corrie and Cairn Members of The Touring Network can apply for a travel bursary of up to £50 to attend selected events.
