A series of events connecting professional touring performers and producers with community venues. We’ll be chatting through the highs and lows of making, promoting and presenting live performances, in and for geographically remote parts of Scotland.

Our online sessions will shine a light on a few rural touring stories. We’ll take a peek behind-the-scenes and discover how a performance makes it from the rehearsal room to a community space, and everything in-between. We’ll dive into tech considerations, local audience insights and a general exploration of the rewards and challenges of presenting and receiving live performances. Each event will bring together two pairs of performers and venues, with a focus on different art forms.

Join us on Mon 24 OR Tue 25 June* for our first event, with a focus on theatre. Eleanor Scott, Administrative Producer of Vanishing Point, and Jane Murray, Events Coordinator at Dunoon Burgh Hall, will discuss the company’s recent tour of Spin. Performer Ruxy Cantir will talk with Lara Porter, Centre Manager of Eskdalemuir Hub, Dumfries & Galloway, about touring Pickled Republic. *This event is being repeated on two dates to allow volunteers and practising performers to attend.

These events are hosted by The Touring Network (Highlands & Islands) and Dumfries and Galloway Arts Festival. Both organisations are funded by Creative Scotland and support rural venues across their regions to host professional live performances in their communities.

This is a free event, open to any performers or venues interested in touring or presenting performing arts in remote or rural community venues across Scotland. You only need to register for one of the dates – Mon 24 or Tue 25 June. Email office@thetouringnetwork.com if you have any queries.

Our second event will take place in the autumn, with a focus on dance and digital.
