Happy summer everyone! There might not be much sunshine but there is plenty of live performance. Here are a few highlights from across the region and as always, we’d love to hear what you’re up to, as a performer, producer, promoter or punter.

SEALL celebrates 30 years with a week of live music, theatre and events around Skye and Raasay from 25-29 July. See the full programme here.

Under Canvas, Eden Court’s outdoor summer festival, is back. Enjoy 42 days of live music, performance and DJ sets from 1 July – 27 August.

Fresh from Glastonbury, THE Billy Bragg is dropping into Craignish Village Hall for an intimate gig on 29 July, as part of his new album tour. Find out how to get your hands on a golden ticket here.

Have you seen Disaster Plan’s breathtaking open-air performance, Move? There’s still time to catch it on Dunett Beach on 6 July and Nairn Beach on 8 & 9 July. Weaving storytelling, choral soundscape and Gaelic song, Move is about migration, loss and communal healing.

Scotland on Tour is bringing gigs to venues and halls all over the region this summer, from Ullapool to the Isle of Lismore. Artists include Pictish Trail, Honeyblood, Kim Edgar, Breabach, Hannah Rarity and many more.

Dandelion’s Unexpected Gardens have popped up across the Highlands and Islands. They’re beautiful places to gather, with events, activities, workshops and performances from Musicians in Residence. Check out what’s growing in Uist, Caithness, Forres, Argyll and Alness this summer.

No Logo’s gripping show Make Up – a highlight of our 2021 Supported Programme –  is heading to the Rockfield Centre on 30 July, before hitting Underbelly George Square in August. Join Lady Christina for post-performance, dressing room reflections.

Two of our Supported Programme artists will be performing in Edinburgh this August – a great chance to see for yourself if you’re thinking about booking one of them. Lubna Kerr performs Tickbox at Summer Hall from 16-28 August and Fergus McCreadie will be joined by Rory Ingham and friends at the Jazz Bar on 8 & 9 August.

If you’re heading to the Fringe, we recommend you catch some of our members’ stunning shows.  An Tobar and Mull Theatre’s gothic thriller, In the Weeds, delves into island identity and our relationship with the natural world at Summerhall from 3-28 August. The National Theatre of Scotland explores systematic deception and indifference to human suffering in Exodus, at the Traverse from 9-27 August, and Right Lines Productions explores the joy of sheds, the pain of loss and the comfort of friendship in Man Shed at Pleasance Courtyard from 3-29 August. Pianodrome takes up residence at the Old Royal High on Calton Hill, with lunchtime concerts, workshops and evening shows throughout July and August.
