Held at Eden Court Theatre, Inverness, the Summer Social will give you the opportunity to see Kathryn Gordon’s immersive dance experience A Journey of Flight, connect with other members and take part in a discussion led by Kathryn.

A Journey of Flight

A Journey of Flight is an immersive 50-minute dance performance created in Shetland and inspired by the migration of birds.

Through mesmerising choreography, live music (Jenny Sturgeon), and stunning projected visuals (Alison Piper), it creates a thought-provoking journey of arrivals, departures, the nostalgia of place and the notion of flight itself.

Against flowing white sheets (repurposed Road Underlay from a large controversial windfarm), the dancers explore new states of being and new homes. This visually stunning piece invites audiences to reflect on the delicate balance between nature, movement and our emotional ties to place and each other.

Kathryn Gordon

Kathryn Gordon is a dance artist and choreographer based in Shetland. She has been commissioned by the BBC to create a screendance, and has choreographed nationally and internationally, touring live performance work. She also teaches dance and yoga.
