They will perform a series of unplanned or &#8216;off-the-cuff&#8217; gigs across Scotland this winter, showcasing the talent of two of Scotland&#8217;s leading traditional musicians. The performances bring a crucial part of Scotland&#8217;s music culture, the informal session, to the foreground and cast it in a fresh light, bringing its open-endedness and spontaneity onto the concert platform. The material ranges from traditional songs and tunes, to contemporary numbers, to their own compositions and improv. The live performances capture the duos&#8217; raw creativity and demonstrates their outstanding musical intuition. The live performances display a kind of electricity and excitement by the off-the-cuff nature and highlight every nuance. Each performance is unique and demonstrates the incredible talent of two of Scotland\u2019s foremost musicians. As they allow themselves the freedom to experiment,\u00a0 \u2018Nae Plans\u2019 becomes \u2018Nae limits\u2019.<\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #444444;\">Beautifully recorded by acclaimed engineer\u00a0<a style=\"color: #9f9f9f;\" href=\"http:\/\/www.spad.org.uk\/about\/\">Barry \u2018Spad\u2019 Reid<\/a>, this field-recording consists entirely of first-takes: nae edits, nae overdubs, nae plans, harking back to an older way of recording folk music in the spirit of folklorists such as\u00a0<a style=\"color: #9f9f9f;\" href=\"http:\/\/www.loc.gov\/folklife\/lomax\/\">Alan Lomax.<\/a>\u00a0The two folkies draw their inspiration from other musical styles present in their lives, and freely express this.\u00a0Chaos, raw energy, outrageous risk-taking, delight, joy, aching poignancy and humour \u2013 all in abundance in a series of enthralling performances captured in a wee Highland cottage in the depths of winter.<\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #444444;\">Hamish and Adam enlisted the help of artist and multimedia-maestro\u00a0<a style=\"color: #9f9f9f;\" href=\"http:\/\/somhairle.co.uk\/\">Somhairle Macdonald<\/a>\u00a0to film the process.
