Robert King

Robert King is a singer-songwriter and guitarist based in Invergordon in the Highlands.

Self-styled as ‘defiantly optimistic’ and ‘unpigeonholable’, his songs are complex and idiosyncratic with plenty of bombastic strumming and riffing, as well as delicate and thoughtful playing, owing as much to rock as to folk, as well as taking in a jumble of worldwide musical influences.

Having busked and hitched around Europe for a handful of years, he is now settled back in the Highlands, and a graduate of Applied Music at UHI, (now studying MA Music and the Environment at the same).

Current plans take the form of gigs and concerts in small venues, festivals and natural settings as well as an open call for free house gig.

He has also recently begun to work as a Scottish trad accompanist and is experimenting with composing very musical (rather than abstract) pieces using a variety of instruments and field recorded sounds, as well as wordess vocals.
