Our impact

The cultural life of Scotland depends on the hard work of (largely) volunteer promoters, and this should not go unnoticed. Without our support, communities in the region would see a critical loss of culture.

In the last five years alone, we know our support has meant:

  • 70 performers received paid performance opportunities.
  • 90% of audiences attending a show we supported thought It was great or brilliant.
  • 34% of the audiences attending shows we support were new to seeing a show at that venue
  • 0 percent of members who attended a Touring Network networking event said they better under- stood the work of their peers

  • 9900 extra audience members experienced high quality cultural experiences in their communities (approx)

  • 0 performances took place that otherwise would not have happened

What our members have said:

It has helped us to go from hoping that we might get “lucky” with the occasional musician getting in touch, to feeling pretty confident... All very exciting in our wee isolated community in the far north of Scotland!
A Highland promoter
It was so lovely to see our wee hall transformed into a spectacular theatre! I loved watching the wee lads engrossed in the rhythms and quite awestruck – we felt a part of the performance, especially after the fantastic workshops.
An island promoter
Bringing work to remote rural communities is so important to me and my company. Being involved is giving us the confidence to take our company further in this direction. Showcasing at The Gathering allowed us to go and meet promoters. The relationships with Touring Network members are absolutely ongoing now – we feel so understood and there’s a lot of skill-sharing along the way as well. It’s brilliant.
