Aleister Crowley: A Passion for Evil

31 October, 2015 @ 8:00 pm

£10

What better way to spend Halloween?

Aleister Crowley was one of the most controversial figures of the 20th century. An English occultist, he was denounced in the press as a ‘satanist’ and called “the wickedest man in the world”. His effect on popular culture cannot be understated, with The Beatles, Ozzy Osbourne, David Bowie and especially Jimmy Page being inspired by him in some way. Yet, Crowley the myth has overshadowed Crowley the man.

John Burns uses this play to peel away some of the layers covering ‘The Great Beast’, and touches on the other aspects of Crowleys life, including his poetry, love of mountaineering and the Highlands of Scotland. The play is poetic, sometimes funny, frequently irreverent but always dramatic and funny.
