Horizontal Collaboration

Horizontal Collaboration, an intense political drama that was Pick of the Fringe in 2014 (by the New York Times, The Scotsman and The Guardian) and was shortlisted for the Amnesty International Freedom of Expression Award. Originally created for the Edinburgh Fringe as part of the Made in Scotland showcase.

There are four desks and four laptops. Four United Nations lawyers have been brought in at short notice to participate in an explosive tribunal; reading interview transcripts from Judith K, an African warlord’s wife. After her husband’s assassination, Judith has become leader. In a series of unexpected, controversial actions, she has taken her people on a high-risk path towards peace… or has she?

Horizontal Collaboration focuses on the psychology of power in times of war and asks whether women can ever be given the freedom to lead in a different way from men.
