Outstanding Alabama alternative country singer Jason Isbell, performing with his wife Amanda Shires, will play a special acoustic show at Mareel this summer.
Isbell, who spent six years playing in American southern rockers the Drive-By Truckers before striking out on his own, won an Americana Music Award for his song Alabama Pines in 2012. He has shared a stage with a host of top names including Willie Nelson, Alison Krauss and Ryan Adams.
His most recent record, last year’s Southeastern, has been hailed by critics as his finest work to date – the album’s gritty, honest and beautiful stripped down, country-tinged songs proving a perfect fit with Isbell’s rich, soulful baritone vocals.
