SKYE FESTIVAL: INNER SOUND ‘IOLANTHE’

23 July, 2016 @ 7:30 pm

£12.00

Iolanthe – the story of the fairy Iolanthe banished from the fairy kingdom for 25 years for marrying a mortal. Allowed to return by the Fairy Queen, Iolanthe tells of her half fairy, half mortal son, Strephon, who is in love with the Lord chancellors beautiful ward, Phyllis. She is in love with him also but on seeing him hug a beautiful woman (his mother – as fairies do not age !!) she turns her back on him. The fairies are then enlisted to help win his lovers hand and convince the parliament that they should marry.
However in true Gilbert and Sullivan fashion, a tangled plot unravels ……… and all ends well.
