Broadcaster Matthew Bannister takes us behind the scenes of his award-winning podcast, Folk on Foot. In this live show he shares the many hours of film footage he has shot as he takes a walk with a top folk artist in the landscape that inspired their music.
Originally from Sheffield, Mathhew Bannister joined BBC Radio Nottingham as a trainee reporter in 1978. Since then, Matthew has enjoyed a long and glorious history with the BBC. He is best known as a BBC Radio 1 presenter and controller; Director of Radio; for his Radio 4 obituary programme Last Word; for his World Service programme Outlook; and for his multi-award-winning podcast Folk on Foot.
Folk on Foot takes listeners for an inspirational walk around the countryside with leading musicians, sharing stories and performing on location.
The morningÕs film and talk features artists including: Karine Polwart, Seth Lakeman, Cara Dillon, The YoungÕuns, Steve Knightley of Show of Hands, Eliza Carthy (and Family), Martin Simpson, Julie Fowlis, Jon Boden, Kerry Andrew/You Are Wolf, Nancy Kerr, Duncan Chisholm and more Ð often performing against spectacular backdrops.
