Move Orkney CIC, founded by multi-award-winning dance artist and promoter Stephanie Hellewell Baird, is a critically acclaimed company and SQA Approved Centre of Excellence bridging Scotland's urban hubs and remote island communities. Formally commended in the Scottish Parliament and celebrated at the Royal Garden Party, the company stands at the forefront of rural arts accessibility and creative ecology.
In February 2026, Stephanie won both the Dance Sector Spotlight Award and the Green Dance Award at the One Dance UK Awards, alongside a double finalist nomination at the October 2026 UK Dance Awards in Covent Garden.
As a dedicated regional promoter, Stephanie brings leading independent creators to Orkney, having programmed impactful tours for Fleur Darkin (My Muses Take Care Of Me in St Magnus Cathedral), Penny Chivas (Burnt Out), Sharon Took-Zozaya, and Vince Virr. As a collaborative performer and maker, her distinct practice spans high-profile live showcases and screen dance projects, collaborating with visual artists and directors including Louise Barrington, Tait, and Loose.
