Zetor in the Kailyard

Based in Angus
Music
Zetor in the Kailyard are a Scottish-based folk duo with a big sound, a wide musical palette and a love of songs with something to say.
Multi-instrumentalists Kate and Roddy move between fiddle, flute, saxophone, pipes, guitar, percussion and vocals, combining traditional musicianship with live looping to create rich layers of sound and rhythm. At the heart of it all are the songs: stories of migration, people, places and lives lived, alongside tunes gathered from Scotland, Ireland and further afield.
The name reflects that musical journey. A Zetor is a Czechoslovakian tractor; a kailyard is a Scottish vegetable patch — an unlikely combination that captures the duo’s fascination with music crossing borders and putting down roots somewhere new.
Their influences stretch across the British Isles and Europe, but whatever musical direction they take, the aim is the same: to serve the song, bring the story to life and connect with the audience.
Warm, energetic and engaging on stage, Zetor in the Kailyard combine thoughtful songs, driving tunes, unexpected sounds and plenty of personality. Expect folk music with strong roots, an adventurous streak and a few surprises along the way.
