For this network meet-up we’re delighted to be collaborating with Vanishing Point, who are curating a programme of shows and events at The Citizens between 30 January – 7 February.

Vanishing Point’s Winter Residency programme aligns with their values of internationalism, local engagement, artistic experimentation, career development for artists and – most of all – entertaining audiences.

Our network meet-up will take place on 30 January, the first day of the Winter Residency.

Thanks to support from Creative Scotland, this event is free to attend. However, due to capacity, tickets for each session are limited. When you register, please let us know which sessions you would like to attend. If sessions are over-subscribed, tickets will be offered on a ‘first come, first served’ basis.

AGENDA

Venue: Participate Space, Garden Room at The Citizens Theatre, Glasgow

14:30-15:30: The Touring Network member session (25 places available)

15:30-18:30: Vanishing Point Discussion Event (15 places available)

Discussion theme: International Theatre & Global Stories: reimagining the future of international theatre in Scotland and Scottish work internationally

To complement Vanishing Point’s programme of shows, the Winter Residency discussion events will seek to reimagine the future of Scottish theatre. These are aimed at people working in all areas of theatre & performance in Scotland and are free to attend.

Three speakers will complete the sentence What if….? and present to the room one bold idea that could shift the way Scottish theatre works – expect big ideas that may challenge your thinking. These provocations will be the starting point for facilitated group discussions that will delve deeper into the themes and issues that arise.

18:30-19:30: Vanishing Point Winter Residency Launch Drinks (FULL – WAITING LIST ONLY)

19:45-20:45: Size Matters Performance Preview (FULL – WAITING LIST ONLY)

Size Matters is a wildly inventive new show from Mamoru Iriguchi (Eaten, What You See When Your Eyes Are Closed / What You Don’t See When Your Eyes Are Open). Blending puppetry, science, and surrealist theatre, Julia and Mamoru and their puppet doubles explore how time and perception shift with size. If your heart beats slower, does time pass differently? What happens when puppeteers grow, but their puppets stay the same? Playful, clever, and visually surprising, Size Matters is a joyful, mind-bending journey through time, perspective, and control.
