Celebrating Sutherland Sessions’ 100th gig

Taking remarkable performance to new places matters.
Congratulations to promoter member Sutherland Sessions on their 100th gig, the superb Ainsley Hamill Trio, who played the Bunilidh Sports Clubs in Helmsdale on 22 November.
The show was put on with support from our Programming Pot fund, and Andrena at Sutherland Sessions talked to us about the impact of the show:
“Helmsdale is the furthest north venue of the twenty six venues which have been used by Sutherland Sessions over the last nine years. When we approached Ainsley about playing an intimate gig there, she was immediately excited about bringing her music so far north.
“The Programming Pot enabled us to take a show to a place where, as yet, we don’t really have an established following. It supported us in taking Gaelic back to a place where Gaelic was once spoken. It helped us to take a show to a place where, because of its rural location, people perhaps have fewer opportunities to attend such concerts.”
Visit our Programming Pot page, where promoter members of the Network can access grants of between £300-£750 to stage remarkable shows.
