Nairn Book & Arts Festival: The Musick Fyne Soloists

1 September, 2016 @ 7:00 pm

£8

Inverness Fragments

The enterprising Highland ensemble under their director D James Ross perform music for voices from the Inverness Fragments, a fascinating manuscript preserving church music composed at the Inverness Sangscule in the 1540s.

Providing a unique window on music-making in Renaissance Inverness, the reconstructed music includes hauntingly beautiful processionals and choral music for the elaborate celebration of Palm Sunday.

The Musick Fyne Soloists will perform this intriguing local repertoire in a context of the finest choral music from the Scottish Golden Age, including the Missa Pater Creator omnium of 1546 by Scotland’s finest 16th-century composer, Robert Carver.

There are tickets remaining for this event – although the online purchase system is closed for this event, there are still tickets for sale at Nairn Community and Arts Centre (01667 453476).
