Macrobert is the arts centre for Stirling and the Forth Valley and a cultural hub for Scotland. Our vision is to promote and develop participation in, and enjoyment of the arts.
We offer a huge variety of activities with over 400 live performances of drama, comedy, opera, dance, music, musical theatre and art exhibitions. Our cinema – The Norman McLaren filmhouse – screens a year round programme of blockbusters, arthouse movies, classics, documentaries, world cinema and children’s films.
We are proud to be a Creative Scotland Foundation Organisation, selected for our contribution to a creative Scotland in terms of talent, quality productions, access, audience development, participation and outreach work.
“macrobert … has become the national centre of excellence for work for children and young people, as well as providing a full programme of entertainment for adults.”(The Herald)
We produce and co-produce award-winning new work, with seven new shows and six touring productions in 2012/13. We are increasingly recognised as a creative hub producing world-class productions for younger audiences and we are the only venue in Scotland to offer three Christmas shows that cater for all ages, including the very young.
Our mission is to be a thriving arts centre for everyone. We run a wide range of classes, workshops, creative events and performance opportunities and aim to make them accessible to people of all ages and from all backgrounds and groups. For further information on our access policies and practice please see the access page on our website.
macrobert is located at the heart of the University of Stirling campus, offering excellent facilities for students and staff. We also work across Schools and Departments to create unique opportunities to explore the connections between art and academia.
